Phosphorus is the Backbone of DNA

Nucleic acids store and transmit genetic information. The two types of nucleic acids are DNA and RNA. They are both made of long chains of phosphate-containing molecules. Phosphates are needed for growth as they form the backbone of both DNA and RNA.
