TOXICITY OF MOLYBDENUM

Posted by Blog Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Molybdenum has a low toxicity. Exposure to very high intakes of 10 mg to 15 mg
has resulted in increased levels of uric acid in the blood and gout-like symptoms.
The tolerable upper intake level has been set at a conservative 2 mg for adults.
To summarize, molybdenum is needed in trace amounts by enzymes that metabolize
the sulfur-containing amino acids. It also assists in the removal of toxins
from the blood.
