Zinc supplements are available in a number of forms. Zinc gluconate is readily absorbable. Zinc picolinate is also absorbable, but absorption may be offset by increased elimination. Zinc sulfate and zinc acetate are also available as supplements.

infants. The optimal amount of supplemental zinc for disease resistance for adults may be 35 mg, just under the upper intake level of 40 mg.
