Prescribing information
DESCRIPTION: Cefixime is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic for oral administration.

 INDICATIONS:
Upper respiratory tract infection : Otitis Media, Sinusitis, Pharyngitis. Tonsillitis Lower respiratory tract infection : Bronchitis, Pneumonia. GIT infections: Typhoid Urinary tract infections : Cystitis, Cystourethritis, Uncomplicated pyleonephritis, Uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical/urethral)
 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The usual course of treatment is 5-14 days. Adult and children over 12 years: The recommended adult dosage is 400mg daily administered as a single dose. Children (use paediatric oral suspension): The recommended dosage for children is 8mg/kg /day orally administered as a single dose. Children 1^t years: 5ml daily (1tsp). Children 5-9 years: 10ml daily (2tsp). Children 10-12 years: 15ml daily (3 tsp). The dosage in children aged 6 months to 1 year should to calculated on mg/kg basis

SIDE EFFECTS:
Diarrhoea and stool changes, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, vomiting, flatulence, headache, dizziness, rashes, pruritis, urticaria, thrombocytopenia.

 USE IN PREGNANCY AND BREAST FEEDING:
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women and nursing mother available. Efix should not be used in pregnancy or in nursing mother unless considered essential by the physician.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: 
Patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics.

 PRESENTATION: Efix capsules 400mg : Pack of 5 capsules. Efix suspension : Pack of 30ml. (100mg / 5ml)
